World Whisky

Scotland is not the only country famous for producing malt whisky. In fact, it isn't even the world's largest producer of whisky. Below you will the best whiskies the rest of the world has to offer.

Although we Scots are rightfully proud of our national drink, we have to admit that a good dram can come from almost anywhere in the world - these international whiskies are a testament to that!

yamazakura-16yearold-whiskybuys.jpg
This very limited release gets its name from two Japanese symbols; Yama is indeed the Japanese term for mountain, while Sakura refers to cherry-trees, symbolising ephemeral beauty. Matured in Bourbon barrels for 16 years, then transferred to specific tanks and finally back to Bourbon casks again to finish up for a few months. An inviting nose reveals notes of Vanilla, cedar, fruitcake and citrus, while the palate suggests toasted bread, coconut, fig and pear plus a hint of liquorice. Only 1992 bottles of this whisky are available for Europe, making this a highly collectable release. ABV: 40% 700ml
